From a highly emotional track by Billy Locket, Wide Eyed is given a UK Garage treatment by Vacant, a London-based producer. A more upbeat vibe is infused into the original deeply emotive version backed up with a piano accompaniment. Each version has a charm of its own. This one maintains the melancholia with electronic swinging beats that shuffle to the smooth character reminiscent of London house music.
Midway, the shift of rhythmic energy builds up, and yet it maintains the chilled confidence that locks the listener from the hypnotic start. Still true to the form that Bill Lockett wishes to achieve which is to “create music that the public will like,” Wide Eyed (Vacant Remix) is surely one strong track worth keeping.
Billy Lockett expresses his thoughts about this piece. “Wide Eyed is the last song I wrote for the album. It’s a song that is about putting the past behind you and trying to move on, knowing that you’ll end up back where you started.”
